Philanthropy is something that is near and dear to my heart. In this world, I truly believe that we must work together and help one another. Everyone goes through different phases in their lives; sometimes they are the ones doing the helping and other times they are the ones receiving the help. It’s easy for companies to get caught up with the day-to-day tasks and projects and forget to give back, which makes being part of an organization that is willing to help others is really important to me.
Today, we are seeing a declining representation of women working in the technology field. More specifically, IT roles such as software engineering, cyber security and multimedia computing. We are also seeing a decline in the completion of technology degrees. There is a clear underrepresentation of women in technology careers. Our team here at Deputy is trying to fill this gap by helping one woman at a time.
I am proud to announce that Deputy has rolled out the “Scholarship for Women in Technology” program! This program was designed to help women finish their college degree by providing financial aid. Every semester, we will be selecting one lucky winner to receive a $1,000 scholarship. They will be able to use the funds wherever they see fit – books, tuition or housing.
Last semester’s winner was Caroline Ho. She is attending Stanford University in Stanford, California, working on her Bachelor’s degree in Symbolic Systems with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence.
Go Caroline! #girlpower
